Walt was great to work with. We hired him for a very large first-floor remodeling project that included a complete kitchen re-build (we moved the kitchen to a larger room), taking out multiple walls, changing exterior windows and doors, and combining a laundry room and powder room. His approach was patient and meticulous - exactly what was needed for our 130 year old home. He was thoughtful about overcoming unforeseen challenges (and there were many), and flexible in incorporating necessary design changes on they fly. We highly recommend him.

Walt is a real gem! We had a total kitchen remodel done by Walt and his crew. It was a gut job and a big investment for us, so we were unsure what to expect. We had heard horror stories from friends' kitchen renovations (done by other people!) so we went in expecting the worst - but instead we got the best. Everyone who observed our kitchen renovation remarked about how surprised they were that it went so smoothly and moved so fast. It was our first major renovation on our house and Walt's crew set the bar very high. Walt was meticulous, detail oriented, and made sure he thoroughly understood what needed to be done before getting started, and it really showed because they worked swiftly with almost no snags. When things came up that weren't expected, Walt always had several solutions up his sleeve. Beyond that, he managed his and his crew's schedule perfectly. They were reliable, punctual, good communicators, and really managed expectations well. We estimated the project well and kept within the budget. No surprises. He took care of everything. They were also just pleasant people to have in our home every day! And the end product is beautiful. It completely transformed our home. I definitely hope we can work with Walt again.

Walt is an extremely talented carpenter and a top notch person. He has always gone above and beyond for my family growing up and now that I have my own house, for me. He takes his time to explain everything and he has an incredibly ability to think 10 steps a head to solve problems even before they have a chance to exist.
Without his help, I wouldn't have gotten my house livable for quite some time. Working with many different people this year it was evident what a step above Walt is in regards to his kindness, thoroughness and reliability. I will miss working with Walt and his helper Quinton! I hired Walt Kaufmann for a major kitchen remodeling project. It involved knocking down a wall, putting up a new wall, moving a wall, putting in new doors, all new kitchen cabinets, new floors, new appliances, electrical work, new plumbing, etc. I met with 4 different contractors before going with Walt, because he took the time to carefully review the plans and specs, measure, look in the basement, and ask me detailed questions about things I had not even thought about. He also provided a reasonable and fair price.
Once the project actually started I couldn't be happier with Walt and his crew. They were on time, the work they did was excellent, and they cleaned up after themselves. Walt is very responsive and promptly returns calls and texts. Walt always explained what they were doing and why, and answered any questions. When he ran into problems, he always explained the issue and gave me options for solutions. The electrician, plumbing, and flooring contractors he recommended were also very professional and competent.
I am planning on a master bath and basement renovation in the future, and if I can't get Walt to do them - I will be very sad! In short, I highly recommend Walt - he is an excellent GC and also a really nice guy!

Where to begin...Fist time meeting Walt I knew he was the one that I wanted to go with he had so much patience with me for someone who didn't have a clue on what she was getting herself involved with on a kitchen remodel. His consultation was a 2 hour+. DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS I was blown away!! He treated my kitchen like it was his own kitchen he was remodeling and can't forget about his helper Quinton. Where do I even start with Walt, this guy is the most thorough, detailed and punctual contractor I've ever met. We got estimates from 5 contractors and went with Walt based on a neighbor referral and he did not disappoint. We did a full kitchen renovation which included demo, knocking down a wall, new floors, cabinets, sink etc. From day one, Walt was very responsive and punctual. His attention to detail is second to none and we could not be any happier with the outcome of the project. His price is very competitive and fair and he's one of the nicest person you'll ever meet.

We are so happy with our beautiful new kitchen. Walt and his crew did a fantastic job and were a pleasure to work with. Walt is an amazing contractor, with years of experience and highly satisfied customers. Our project involved gutting the entire kitchen and removing the weight-bearing wall between the kitchen and living room. On his first consultation visit, delivery of the estimate, and throughout the entire process, it was obvious that Walt is dedicated to excellence. His quotation was thorough and easy to understand. He thinks of the big picture continuously, while paying attention to every small detail. He is a perfectionist. He delivered on each line item, on time. He was very patient and straight forward when answering my questions. When an unexpected issue popped up, as happens when a house is 65 years old and the kitchen has never been remodeled, Walt was a fast problem solver. He always outlined a few options and the pros and cons of each and explained his recommendations. His crew was also hardworking, polite, and professional. When not manually working on the job himself, Walt was here every day to supervise. There was substantial electrical and plumbing work needed to bring it up to code. He was meticulously clean and tidy, so the rest of the house was never dusty. Walt has lots of contacts with vendors, for flooring, backsplashes, and appliances, and he interacts well with all of them. Walt was respectful of my budget, and since he had scoped the project so well, there were no extra labor charges - a gem!
Now, each time we enter our small house, front or back door, we are treated to a masterpiece. Highly recommend.

We got our entire kitchen gutted and remodeled last year, including getting a new powder room installed on the main level.
Kaufmann remodeling was recommended to us by MainLine Kitchen Designs and Walt and his team exceeded all our expectations.
Walt is very meticulous, punctual and responsive and it was very evident from day one that he is the sort of professional who loves what he does.
His attention to detail and workmanship ensured that the project schedule was adhered to and that we got a beautiful kitchen as planned.
While working on the project, Walt generously offered to pick up our stuff from home center and saved us some shipping cost and time. This did not fall under his purview but he was there to help regardless.
He continues to be reachable on phone for advice even after the project is complete and remains a good friend, to date. Thank you, Walt!

Mr. Kaufmann remodeled our bathroom in an old house with lots of quirks and challenges. It involved enlarging the space and completely reconfiguring the design of the room. His ideas on how to most effectively work with a small, difficult space were excellent and the results were terrific! He also reworked a small laundry/powder room for us, with similarly good results. Walt was the second contractor we used while doing major remodeling of our house, a 150+ year-old rowhouse. He gut-renovated our master bedroom and bathroom, kitchen, powder room, and den. What a difference from our first experience with a contractor (which wasn't terrible - just not stellar). Walt is detail-oriented, trustworthy, fair, hardworking, and really just a pleasure to work with. He was on the job himself every day, supervising all the work being done and often doing the most detail-oriented work himself. Whenever we discovered something unexpected during the job -- a virtual certainty in an old house -- he was a good problem-solver and fair about setting a price for any significant additional work. The guys who work with him are really a cut above other workers we've encountered - polite and hardworking. We really trusted all of them and liked them. Walt is the best communicator of any contractor, worker, or specialist we've hired for the house. He is always accessible by email, cell phone, or text, and always makes time to talk. The cons? The project took much longer than Walt's original estimate - but since that seems to be par for the course, I was at least glad to have a contractor who was such a pleasure to have around for that time.
